Booking Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 2026

Welcome to The Nest Pregnancy and Parenthood. Thank you for choosing us to support you during your pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. These Booking Terms & Conditions explain the agreement between you ("the Client") and The Nest ("the Practice") when booking private midwifery services, antenatal education or any other appointments or courses offered by The Nest. By booking an appointment, course or package with The Nest, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

About The Nest

The Nest is an independent private midwifery practice owned and operated by May Bourne, Registered Midwife (NMC PIN: 14I0498E). The Nest provides private antenatal and postnatal midwifery care, antenatal education, infant feeding support, birth preparation and related maternity services throughout Jersey. Clinical appointments are primarily held at The Women's Health Hub, with selected services available in your own home by prior arrangement.

Booking Appointments

Appointments may be requested online, by email or by another agreed method. Your booking is not confirmed until you have received confirmation from The Women's Health Hub administration team or directly from The Nest. Please ensure that all information provided during booking is accurate and up to date.

Fees & Payment

Current fees are published on our website and may be amended from time to time. Payment instructions will be provided when your appointment is confirmed. Appointment packages must be paid for in advance unless otherwise agreed. Any outstanding balances must be settled before future appointments can take place.

Appointment Packages

Appointment packages are available for selected services and offer a reduced overall cost compared with individual appointments. Packages are:
• valid for one client only;
• non-transferable;
• non-refundable once commenced, except where required by law; and
• intended to be used within a reasonable timeframe relevant to your pregnancy or postnatal period (usually up until approximately 28 days after birth).
• 5 and 10 appointment packages can be paid in two separate payments. Unused appointments cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash.

Home Visits

Home visits are available by prior arrangement. To ensure your records are established securely, your first appointment will usually take place at The Women's Health Hub before subsequent appointments are arranged in your home. At present, there is no additional charge for home visits within Jersey. The Nest reserves the right to rearrange or decline a home visit where circumstances make attendance unsafe or impractical.

Private Midwifery Care

The Nest provides private antenatal and postnatal midwifery care. Current services include, but are not limited to:

  • Early pregnancy support

  • Routine antenatal care

  • Birth planning consultations

  • Post-dates pregnancy care

  • Postnatal care

  • Infant feeding support

  • Tongue tie assessment

  • Birth debrief consultations

  • Caesarean section scar therapy

Clients are strongly encouraged to register their pregnancy with the Government of Jersey Maternity Service and attend their initial booking appointment to access routine screening, ultrasound scans and hospital maternity services. The Nest does not currently provide intrapartum (labour and birth) care or a 24-hour on-call service. At your first appointment, you will be required to review and sign The Nest Client Care Agreement.

Antenatal Education

Our antenatal education courses are designed to provide evidence-based information and practical preparation for pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Course content reflects current evidence and national guidance available at the time of teaching. Every pregnancy, labour and birth is unique. Participation in an antenatal course does not guarantee any particular labour, birth or postnatal outcome. The information provided during our courses is intended to support informed decision-making and should not replace individual clinical advice from your own healthcare professionals.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

We understand that pregnancy and family life can sometimes be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please give as much notice as possible. Appointments cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice may be rearranged without charge. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or appointments that are not attended without prior notice, may be charged in full. Exceptional circumstances will always be considered compassionately and at the discretion of The Nest. If The Nest needs to cancel or rearrange your appointment due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, every effort will be made to offer an alternative appointment as soon as reasonably possible.

Antenatal Course Cancellations

If you are unable to attend your booked antenatal course, please let us know as soon as possible. Refunds of deposits will not be given unless for genuine medical reason (this does not include the recommendation or requirement for caesarean section birth). Where possible, we will endeavour to transfer your booking to a future course, subject to availability. Refunds will only be provided where required by law or at the discretion of The Nest. If any part of your antenatal course takes place after 37 weeks of pregnancy, refunds will not be issued in the event of giving birth before the end of the course. If The Nest has to cancel a course, an alternative date or a full refund will be offered.

Clinical Responsibility

All care provided by The Nest is based upon current evidence, professional standards and individual clinical assessment. Recommendations made during appointments are intended to support informed decision-making. Healthcare decisions remain your own, and you are encouraged to discuss any concerns with your wider maternity team where appropriate.

Communication

We may communicate with you by telephone, email, SMS or WhatsApp. Whilst every effort will be made to respond promptly, responses should not be expected outside normal working hours. Electronic communication should never be used for urgent medical concerns.

Emergencies

The Nest is not an emergency maternity service. If you experience bleeding, reduced fetal movements, severe abdominal pain, signs of labour, concerns regarding your baby's wellbeing, or any other urgent medical concern, you should contact the Government of Jersey Maternity Service immediately on 01534 442448 or attend the Emergency Department. In a medical emergency, always call 999.

Confidentiality & Privacy

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and The Nest's Privacy Policy. By booking an appointment, you acknowledge that relevant administrative information may be processed by authorised staff at The Women's Health Hub for the purposes of arranging and managing your appointments. Clinical records are securely maintained using the EMIS electronic clinical record system.

Intellectual Property

All course materials, handouts, written resources, digital downloads and website content remain the intellectual property of The Nest unless otherwise stated. Materials are provided for your own personal use and must not be copied, reproduced, distributed or shared without prior written permission.

Website Information

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the information published on our website is accurate and up to date, medical knowledge and guidance continue to evolve. The Nest reserves the right to amend website content, services and fees without prior notice.

Complaints

The Nest is committed to providing safe, compassionate and high-quality care. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your experience, we encourage you to discuss this with us in the first instance so that we have the opportunity to resolve your concerns. If you have a complaint about the clinical care you have received, you have a right to contact The Jersey Care Commission.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Jersey, Channel Islands. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms & Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jersey.
